Selam Tekie

“My name is Selam Tekie and I’m 16 years of age. My dad died while I was a small child.  I used to live with my mother, my mother’s name was Meseret, she got married again after we moved to Addis from the countryside. My step-dad drinks heavily and disturbs my mother. My mother was a very beautiful and kind women, but while we were living in this condition my mother got very sick. She got saved and was attending church but she got very sick again and we had to take her to her mother so that she looked after her.  She finally she passed away July 2005 at 8:00 pm. My sister and I started living with our step dad and he was nice to us but he also became seriously sick and we could not get along with his sister.  Our step dad tried to settle our conflicts but one day he told us to leave his house so we started living with our cousin for a while and then he took us back in; while we were living with him we got this opportunity.  I now live a very happy life; God be willing I want to complete my education and became a gospel singer. God will help me and I will succeed.”
